Marvel Comics is reviving the most memorable comic book covers in its history with the Classic Homage Variant Covers series. Starting in January, 25 new genres from today’s most popular artists will revisit iconic covers, including John Romita Jr.’s reimagining of John Romita’s father classic “Spider-Man No More!” 1967 cover The Amazing Spider-Man # 50. Numbers Coming From AvengersAnd the Black PantherAnd the recklessAnd the The Fantastic FourAnd the wolverine, It will include several variants of Classic Homage from the star-studded talent roster that includes artists Frank Cho, Rob Liefeld, J. Scott Campbell and Phil Jimenez. See the first covers in the gallery below.
New covers memorialize such iconic issues as The Fantastic Four No. 52, Black Panther’s debut; Frank Miller reckless #181, pitting Elektra vs. Bullseye in a fight to the death; And the Avengers #4, which saw Earth’s most powerful heroes gather for the first time under the direction of Captain America.
Marvel has revealed the full list of Classic Homage Variant covers and artists, as well as the original issues that inspired the reimagining. The first batch of 25 total covers are available to own starting January 4, 2023, and will be released weekly throughout the month.
